Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, although not directly involved in the implementation and enforcement of counter-terrorism measures, has a role in the general coordination and transmission of information to the relevant authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
The relevant authorities for countering terrorism (The Ministry of Justice and Public Order, the Legal Service, the Unit for Combating Money Laundering [MOKAS], the Office for Combating Terrorism of the Cyprus Police (EU and International Co-operation Directorate), the Customs and Excise Department) cooperate closely for the adoption and implementation of the provisions of UN Security Council resolutions and the EU Common Positions and Council Regulations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively involved in the formulation of Cyprus’ policy against terrorism at the international level, both within the United Nations and the European Union. It also participates in the monthly Working Groups on Terrorism (COTER and COCOP).
